چکیده

We develop a simple theory of the electromagnetic response of a d-wave supercon-ductor in the presence of potential scatterers of arbitrary s-wave scattering strength and inelastic scattering by antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations. In the clean London limit, the conductivity of such a system may be expressed in " Drude " form, in terms of a frequency-averaged relaxation time. We compare predictions of the theory with recent data on YBCO and BSSCO crystals and on YBCO films. While fits to penetration depth measurements are promising, the low temperature behavior of the measured microwave conductivity appears to be in disagreement with our results. We discuss implications for d-wave pairing scenarios in the cuprate superconductors.

A nested Fermi surface with nearly parallel orbit segments is found to yield a singlet d–wave superconducting state at high temperatures for a restricted range of the on–site Coulomb repulsion that avoids the competing spin density wave instability. The computed superconducting transition temperature drops dramatically as the nesting vector is decreased, in accord with recent photo–emission dat...

The new form of the composite operator generalizing the Cooper pairs for a BCS superconductor is introduced. The approach is similar to the derivation of the composite operator of the odd-frequency superconductors. The examples of the d x 2 −y 2 −, d xy − and p− wave composite operators for a 2D t − J model are given.

A theory for the high temperature superconductors is proposed. Holes are spin-1/2, charge e, quasiparticles strongly dressed by spin fluctuations. Based on their dispersion, it is claimed that the experimentally observed van Hove singularities of the cuprates are likely originated by antiferromagnetic (AF) correlations. From the two carriers problem in the 2D t-J model, an effective Hamiltonian...

A calculation of the spin-wave polarization operator is very important for the analysis of the magnetic structure of high temperature superconductors. We analyze the significance of the incoherent part of the spin-wave polarization operator within the framework of the t-J model. This part is calculated analytically for small doping with logarithmic accuracy. We conclude that the incoherent part...

We summarize our recent theoretical studies on the spin dynamics in the normal state of the metallic cuprates. The contrasting wave vector dependence of the dynamical spin structure factor S(q, ω) in LaSrCuO and YBaCuO systems are attributed to the differences in the fermiology, in conjunction with strong Coulomb correlations. These effects are found to account also for the anomalous temperatur...
